Many people’s idea of travel is to get from A to B as fast as they possibly can. I beg to differ. Travel is not a destination – it is a journey. I have never really thought of Bali as a layover point but I did and I really did make the most out of my 21-hours in paradise!
The Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport is somewhat a paradise in itself. Located less than 3-minutes’ walk away from the international terminal, it is a welcome retreat after a long flight – especially if you have arrived at an ungodly hour and the last thing you want is to jump in a car for another hour or so to get to your resort!Â
Arriving just past midnight, there was only one reception staff on duty and there was a short wait for me to get checked-in.
This is not your typical high rise hotel. It is quite a big hotel spread over two floors and I must say that it’s quite fun trying to get around this maze!
Exiting the elevators on Level 3, you get a pretty decent view of the lobby and restaurant area.
Ermmmm…..which way do I go now??
Finally, I am in my room! Big, comfortable and clean! My only gripe was the air-conditioning was not turned on so it was stuffy and hot when I walked in.Â
After a good night’s sleep, I explored the hotel a little before getting a cab out to the temples.
As I skipped breakfast this morning, I came back later in the afternoon feeling really hungry. These local dishes – fried duck and oxtail soup – sure did not disappoint! Yes, that was lunch-for-one!
*Burp* Did I have too much? So, I headed to the gym before a relaxing massage at the spa.
Goodbye for now! I am going to start my trek to the terminal now. I can see it from my room!
