Maison Dalabua or Mansion Lotus in english is a charming french-styled boutique hotel located about 5 minutes away from the city centre in Luang Prabang, Laos.
We arrived at the hotel at about 7pm. The staff that checked us in was extremely friendly. The front desk was literally a desk and that night, there were three staff attending to us. We were told to take a seat at the coffee table and another staff brought us some welcome drink.
Although Maison Dalabua looks dated, but we could tell that it was well-kept and maintained. We could see that the decorations around the property exudes plenty of local flavour and design but were injected with a French-flair. I must say I do like this property because of its uniqueness.
This is a double-storey property and our room was located on the ground floor. The room came with a King poster bed and the other usual amenities you can find in hotel rooms.
The room was decent, clean and pretty big.
The bathroom is very simple. I like the look of the cement basin-top. The bathroom has two windows which look out to the room. The only qualms I had during the stay was the patchy water pressure. The temperature in Luang Prabang during December would fall below 18 degrees Celsius at night. I was hoping that the water pressure was stronger so that I could get a decent hot shower before I turned in for the night.
Breakfast was amazing. Nope, I am not referring to the buffet spread, I am referring to the view. Take a look. Breakfast was decent but not very exciting, however, you get to try the local food you see at the night market. I was actually grateful that I did not have to pay to try the night market street delicacies because they serve it here for breakfast.
And then in and around the hotel…
The bicycles are free to rent but you would need to reserve in advance. I heard they ‘rent’ out like hotcakes.
 
The pool was very inviting, but the weather was a little chilly, I rather not risked it.
 
The restaurant located at the property was the most mesmerizing of all and was the highlight of this hotel for me. The food was a fusion of French and Laos cuisine and the dishes we ordered were simply beautiful and very tasty. Service was good too. We got wind that this restaurant is often fully-booked. We were just lucky we could get a seat when we arrived the first night. We had dinner at the restaurant for both of the nights we stayed here. I will dedicate another blog to show you the dinner I had for those two nights, keep a lookout for it.
 
So, if you asked me whether would I stay at this property again.., my answer will be a resounding YES!
