When you talk about Australian carriers, you will hear the likes of Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar among the more prominent ones. Recent figures released by the airports reveal that Virgin Australia as being the most punctual carriers of all. Qantas came in second and surprisingly, budget domestic carrier, Tiger came in third!
Take a look at the numbers below.
Tiger claims to have the lowest cancellation rate of all major domestic airlines in 2016 at 0.9%.
When contacted, Jetstar responded that they operate more than 1800 domestic flights across Australia every week and “most” of them were on time. However, they have promised to work on improving their arrival and departure times.
According to the guidelines provided by The Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE), a carrier is considered late if it exceeds more than 15 minutes within the scheduled arrival/departure time.
I took Jetstar pretty frequent between Singapore and Melbourne. I have been on their Business and Economy class. Most of their crew are based in Singapore and they are generally friendly and polite. I beg to differ that Jetstar is the worst low-cost carrier of 2016 and yes, they need to improve on their punctuality.
